Witham Healthcare Centre
Priti has led the campaign for better local health services for her constituents and this includes championing the need for a new multi-purpose and fully integrated health centre to be established in Witham Town.
A new health centre is vital to support the health needs of a growing population and provide new health services, improve social care provision, upgrade patient pathways and alleviate pressures on local primary and secondary care services. Local councils in this part of Essex are proposing to develop at least 37,000 new homes over the next two decades and Priti strongly believes that when new development is built, new public services and healthcare provision must be introduced too.
Priti has led efforts to secure collaboration on this project with Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, local GPs, NHS England and local councils and has established regular workshops to advance the development of the new health centre. Progress is being made with a business case being developed and a planning application is in the pipeline to build the new facility in the Newlands Centre.
During her time as Witham’s MP, Priti has also successfully campaigned for investment in new paramedics and ambulances at the East of England Ambulance Service and has worked closely with Anglia Ruskin University to secure investment from the Government for 100 new medical places per year to train more doctors locally. Priti has also campaigned for new services at Broomfield Hospital and Colchester Hospital and she is currently lobbying East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust for a new specialised orthopaedic centre to be built at Colchester Hospital rather than Ipswich Hospital.
